New Product Introduction

EPIC supports its customers’ needs in new product development, product redesign and transition of existing product. We typically exceed three new product launches per week.

Formal Project Launch Process

EPIC has a structured Project Launch process which includes checklists and reviews. A Customer Focus Team (CFT) Manager with an NPI focus leads the process. The CFT also includes key engineering personnel and senior production operator involvement. The Project Launch methodology incorporates detailed analysis of pre-production results and integration of lessons learned into the volume production process.

We work with our customers’ design and engineering teams to understand product requirements. If needed, we have relationships with several product development firms capable of providing specific design support. Internally, our engineering staff is focused on maximizing efficiency during the manufacturing process. Through involvement in the design process, our engineers identify areas of potential concern to ensure that the product can be manufactured efficiently and be integrated into the customer’s final product effectively.

A Focus on Design for Manufacturability

Once an order is received from a customer, we create project documentation and a bill of materials for the project and immediately build a prototype of the final assembly. We also provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) services to ensure we produce electronic assemblies as efficiently as possible while meeting our customer’s needs. Our engineering team can provide turnkey test development or implement a customer-defined test strategy. We provide materials management/procurement support for prototypes through volume production.

Our component engineering personnel are involved with the build process from prototype through end of life. They assist in identifying alternate components to improve costing, component lead times and availability. They work closely with the CFT and procurement personnel.

Streamlined Systems to Support Rapid Response

As part of the NPI process, we can provide quick turn prototypes to aid customers in product development at the earliest stages of design. Included in this process is an extensive DFM report and post build report. We work closely with our printed circuit board manufacturers to ensure we have the ability to get quick turn PCBs regardless of the complexity or layer count. Our prototype process utilizes the same equipment and support systems to ensure high quality and that there is only one learning curve when transitioning into production. Additionally, our in-house programming services can provide rapid device programming at the pre-production stages. Our production personnel, led by the support team, participate in the prototype process and provide feedback.
